Do we have souls? Are we souls? How do we know? What happens to souls? Who has them? Let's talk.

What happens at birth with our souls?

What happens at birth with our souls?

Does our soul exist before we are born physically? Does it just enter the body when its time? Why would we choose to do this knowing that human is sinful? Why assign a soul in heaven to go down to Earth and risk eternity but have no gain in the end? Why would our memories have to be wiped?

A pre-existing soul just sounds like souls arr waiting for their name to be pulled to be put in a sinful body, forget everything about God, and then hope you find your way back for nothing in return. I'm not understanding the purpose here.

Or do our souls not pre-exist?

As far as we know, souls do not pre-exist. There is no Scripture that implies or teaches that. Souls are engendered when people are: new people, and therefore a new soul.

Genesis 2.7: Humans were not *given* a soul. It says, "And the man *became* a living soul. According to this verse, souls are not *in* us, rather, our souls and bodies are an integrated whole—a unity.

As far as we can tell, you are or have a soul when you are conceived. That's when it all begins.
